time for an update

Hello! Hello! It's me! I'm up still alive and kicking! It's summer and between classes and work, blogging has taken the back burner.

I have been having fun though, and enjoying the summer and the heat. Boy has it been hot here. We decided to re-sign our lease due to lack of funds to come up with a deposit, and first month's rent right after we just paid rent. We love the location our apartment is in. It's so close to the lake, close to campus, and close to everything else we do. And of course it's so much cooler in here when it's so hot out.
What we did to compensate for the fact that we didn't move we pretended we did by moving all of our furniture around to the other rooms. Our bedroom is in the office, our office is in the living room, and our living room is in the bedroom. We love it.

A few other things that have happened. Jason's parents came up to visit us for Fourth of July. We had a great time. I even got to go on a motor cycle ride with them.

My parents and grandparents came up just this last weekend. We have converted in to Lake Superior lovers. We went to the art show on presque isle park and hiked around little presque isle.

I also finished my quilt a little while ago. I posted pictures at the bottom of the page.

a look at the past

Jason of all people was getting after me for not posting, so I thought I would share a picture that my grandma sent me.

Let's just say when she started taking pictures, I was her guinea pig. But I love it now, because there are a lot of really great pictures to look back at of me. Thanks gram!

Two weeks ago I started my second class for the summer, Intro to Graphic communications. Up until yesterday I couldn't stand the class. Yesterday, though I was able to take a concept I had in my head and make it work on the computer and that made me extremely happy. That is the reason I am taking art classes, to be able to take the ideas in my head and make them work!

My job at the greenhouse is coming to a quick close. We are tearing down the greenhouse today. And tonight I am meeting with Jason's boss at the hotel to discuss a possible job there. All we need now is a new apartment.

Jason's parents came up over 4th of July and we had such a good time. We took them to all of our favorite hangouts. Watched the amazing fireworks, took hikes, and I even got to go on a motor cycle ride with them to Big Bay, which is about 30 minutes to the north. We loved having them here and were sad to see them go.

My parents and grandparents are coming up in 2 weeks! And I can't wait for that. They are coming up during the art festival, Art on the Rocks. My photo professor was a juror for the participants, so I know it will be a great time!

Other than that, we are just enjoying the summer up here and waiting for classes to be done!
Sorry for being a terrible blogger lately! :)

smiling

This is me smiling as you can see. I had just walked about 5 miles on a really beautifully cool day. Plus I was walking to really great music, nothing pressing to think about, and my pink bandanna will always make me smile.

Driving home from class the other night I looked up and saw bright shining lights coming from the lake. I drove a little closer and saw that it was a huge ore ship coming into dock. I raced home to get my camera and walked on the beach as close as I could to the incoming ship.
It was so amazing, especially in the dark, the whole ship was lit up.
It's hard to imagine the magnitude of how really huge this ship is.
An amazing way to end a beautiful day.

FUN WITH LIGHT

The next two pictures are also of the ship, but I slowed down my shutter speed and moved the camera around while I was taking the picture.
These are my favorite pictures.
